Born and raised on the island of Grenada, Irina Kostka-Da Silva, the Managing Director of IK Architecture, seamlessly blends her Caribbean roots with a global design sensibility. Her upbringing, infused with the vibrancy of her island home and the richness of her German heritage, serves as the foundation for her transformative architectural journey.

Irina’s pursuit of architectural excellence led her to the esteemed Leibniz University of Hanover in Germany as well as to the University of Queensland in Australia. Imbued with a passion for contemporary Caribbean architecture, she discovered a unique synergy between her tropical upbringing and innovative design approaches. With a keen eye for harnessing natural elements, Irina’s designs embrace the beauty and challenges of the Caribbean climate, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and function.

Her global sojourns were punctuated by a pivotal period in Cape Town, South Africa, where Irina worked at Design Space Africa, a local architectural firm known for pushing creative boundaries. This cross-continental experience broadened her horizons and deepened her understanding of how architecture can transcend cultural contexts while remaining rooted in a sense of place.

In 2020, during the midst of global uncertainty, Irina returned to Grenada despite the adversity of the pandemic. Launching her own firm, IK Architecture, she translated her passion into reality, creating spaces that marry compelling aesthetics with practical functionality. 

Her dedication to her craft is palpable, evidenced by her unwavering focus on taking Caribbean architecture to new heights. Whether she’s weaving her design magic into residential, hospitality, or commercial spaces, Irina’s imprint is unmistakable. Her designs do more than adorn landscapes; they elevate lifestyles and enrich communities..

The International Property Awards have become a platform for IK Architecture to shine. Notably, the firm’s crowning achievement arrived in 2022 with the receipt of the Best Single Residential Architecture in the Americas award.
