Andrea Saltarelli was born in Milan in 1964 and moved in Versilia at a young age, where he still lives and works today. His interest in the visual arts developed early on through frequent visits to the art studios of family friends.
He initially pursued a technical education at a surveying high school, later completing his studies at the Passaglia Artistic High School in Lucca.
From 1976 onward, the practice of judo brought him closer to Eastern arts and philosophies, which have remained a constant source of inspiration throughout his many study trips and visits to museums and archeological sites around the world.
In Italy, he maintains professional relationships with fellow artists and ateliers, also collaborating in the production of sculptures using various plastic materials.
From the synthesis of these experiences emerged “antropogrittico” and the “graffitico” technique, expressions of an artistic research that combines tradition and experimentation.
In 1990, the artist opened his first studio in the historic center of Camaiore, which was relocated ten years later to Pietrasanta under the name Aleph Arte.
In 2012, he initiated the project “arte manifesta”, anonymously displaying prints of his artworks in public spaces throughout Pietrasanta, accompanied by captions intended to guide the viewer’s interpretation of the work.
Following a recommendation by his friend Andrea Roggi, he entered the galleries De Lind XII (Oisterwijk, The Netherlands) and MTF (Paris). In 2019, the Aleph studio became part of a space dedicated to wine labeled with original artworks and gastronomic specialties curated by his partner Sabrina, giving rise to the project “arte & Gourmet”, where guests are engaged through both visual and culinary experiences.
Among his significant exhibitions are the ones hosted in: Palazzo Sani in Lucca (1991), the Chapel of Palazzo Mediceo in Seravezza (1998), Palazzo Cojari in Fivizzano (2002), Palazzo Pretorio in Campiglia (2003), Studio Noesi in Rome (2012), Palazzo Comunale di Signa (2018), Palazzo dei Priori in Colle Val d’Elsa and the Sala della Cancelleria in San Gimignano (2019), and Studio C in Piacenza (2024).
In 2021, Saltarelli published a monograph edited by Giorgio Mondadori in the “Signa Artis” series. In 2024, he was commissioned to create the “Palio di Sassetta”, further confirming a versatile artistic practice deeply rooted in the local context and open to dialogue with the public.
In 2025, a solo exhibition was mounted at the headquarters of the Tuscany Region at Palazzo Pegaso in Florence, accompanied by the publication of a new monograph.
